If you are experiencing difficulty using your VisaŽ Check Card or if a merchant has notified you that your card is not active, contact one of our MarketPlace Offices during business hours to determine the status of your card. Your card may have been deactivated because we suspect unauthorized transactions have or could occur.
Check cards are a frequent target for fraud. Asheville Savings Bank is committed to using state of the art technology to protect against unauthorized use of your VisaŽ Check Card. Our eNFACT fraud detection system is working to protect you 24/7.
Your Asheville Savings Bank VisaŽ Check Card activity is monitored electronically for abnormal usage patterns and potentially fraudulent transactions. When the probability of fraud is very high, your card may be deactivated until we have the opportunity to reach you. Learn More.
For the protection of Asheville Savings Bank customers, we deactivate VisaŽ Check Cards when we receive information from VisaŽ that Asheville Savings Bank card numbers have been compromised. This means that unauthorized individuals may have access to these card numbers and there is potential for fraudulent transactions using these cards. Card numbers may be compromised during the processing of merchant transactions, not by Asheville Savings Bank. If your card is deactivated, we will notify you by phone or mail and automatically order a replacement card and PIN which will be mailed to the address we have on file for your account.
For your protection, Asheville Savings Bank VisaŽ Check Cards cannot be used in Mexico, Russia, Romania, or Ukraine due to significant fraud activities in these countries.

- If fraud is suspected, a Consumer Network Services, eNFACT Fraud Division specialist will contact you by phone to confirm the purchase. If the purchase is fraudulent, your card number will be cancelled immediately.
- In some cases. when the probability for fraud is very high, your card may be deactivated until we can reach you. When a card is deactivated, we will attempt to contact you by phone and mail. You may reactivate your card by calling us during our business hours.
- Transactions using an Asheville Savings Bank VisaŽ Check Card will not be authorized in Mexico, Russia, Romania, or Ukraine due to significant fraud activity in these countries.
- In most situations, you will not be liable for unauthorized use of your Asheville Savings Bank VisaŽ Check Card. See our account agreement for full details about limits on your liability.
Here's how you can protect your money:
- We will never contact you by email or phone to request your account number or PIN number. Please do not reply to any email that appears to be from Asheville Savings Bank requesting this type of information.
- Please respond immediately to requests for confirmation of suspicious transactions.
- Provide us with your current phone number and address. Contact any Asheville Savings Bank MarketPlace Office to update your cell, home, and/or business phone numbers.
- If you plan any unusual spending using your Asheville Savings Bank VisaŽ Check Card, please contact us in advance. We especially need to know if you will be using your card in Florida, New York, or outside the United States.
